What Is It?
The Lanark Early Integration Program promotes the inclusion of all children in licensed child care and summer/youth programs (accredited).
What Do We Do?
We work with families and Early Childhood Educators as team members to encourage children to reach their fullest potential, at home and in the licensed setting.
With Families:
- Link families with appropriate support services and co-ordination among agencies and programs.
- Assist with preschool enrolment and transition into school.
With Licensed Providers:
- Provide the staff of licensed programs with the necessary support and training.
- Provide consultation to enable their programs to offer children with special needs the opportunity to fully participate.
- When funding is available and in special circumstances, provide an Ehanced Support Worker.
We offer education and training opportunities to parents, child care providers and community groups.
How Do We Help?
Your child will be encouraged to:
- Discover his/her unique abilities
- Learn from other children
- Develop supportive, caring relationships
- Actively participate in learning
- Develop skills for later use in school
Other children will:
- Appreciate the differences in others.
- Learn that everyone belongs.
Preschool providers will:
- Receive the support, training and consultation needed to ensure children with special needs fully particpate in their programs.
